My love of watercolor compels me to paint, but color and light draw me to my subjects.  Fascinated by what happens when color and water come together on paper, I become excited as more shades and nuances are revealed.  Textures, undertones and light portray the emotions of my paintings.  For me, art embodies the feelings it expresses.  It is the translation of the soul, the realization of peace that comes when you allow yourself to be drawn into it.

Created by using acrylics on varnished paper, the only planned part of the painting is choosing the colors that are used.  After applying the colors to the paper, they are sprayed with water.  The colors move across the paper, flowing and mixing with each other, making many different shades and shapes.  After repeating the process several times, the colors begin to show design, texture and depth.  Carefully emphasizing some colors and eliminating others gives the work its strength and integrity of design.
